5-Year Plan

Develop a strategic plan for your career and personal growth over the next five years.

Five-Year Plan

My 5-Year Plan Conclution:

For my five-year plan, I have detailed everything that I need to do to develop my animation and filming skills. This was quite challenging as I found it hard to think of where I wanted to go. I try so many things, and I’m good at some of the things. It’s very hard to find the niche that I want to go down at the moment. I like the next five years that I’ve put. I think it shows growth. It shows improvement, and it goes down an area which I do like. The goal in the next five years would be to fully run the business that I want to build, whether it’s going to be done in the next five years. I really don’t know. I want it to, but I really don’t know.

Self Promotion: Business Assets

Letterheads

Letterhead Example

We got asked to do a letterhead design for our business. This is the design I have chosen for the letterhead, though I like it. It looks simple. It’s got a lot of space, and it doesn’t overpower the content that will be added to it. I think it’s short enough to do its job for this, so I have changed the logo a tad. I’ve put a red line underneath it. Now, with comments from the presentation, we had to do. I have chosen to get rid of the red line as I was advised it was cluttered.

Business Cards

Front and back of my business card:

Business Card Front Business Card Back

We can ask to do business cards for our company now. I’m happy about these business cards. I like the way they are styled. There have been some failures, so I will be documenting them. I got advised to change the QR code as it might print out a bit too small and a bit too not right, so I am considering taking that off. I will upload a newer version if I do decide to do that, but I think this business card at the moment speaks a lot about what I want to give to people. It looks professional. It looks clean. All the details are on there and want some curry. Perfect today. I’m going to be getting them printed. Via Vistaprint, but I like them.

Brand Identity

Brand Identity Example

This is my brand identity I have chosen to do 2 as how my logo appears on certain things. It doesn’t look right. You can’t see it. In some cases it just looks rubbish, so I’ve chosen to do two brand identities because my logo is too totally different colours. The first brand identity I have chosen is red and black, which really go well with each other and Helvetica is quite professional-looking The second Is the same, but the text is white not black and like I said I chose this because I wanted it to be a lot clearer on YouTube on branding itself

Employer Research

We then got asked to find someone that we could send our CV and cover letter to, so I scoured the Internet, looking on so many different platforms and so many different websites. I was Googling it, and I was trying to find someone on Facebook. It wasn’t until I went onto Google again to find out who the talent acquisition is of Warner Brothers discovery and came across Jeff Hobbs.

CV

CV Example CV Example

This is my actual CV that I keep tweaking. I’ve had several CVs, and every time I look at them, I can always tweak them a bit more. I like how this series has turned out my personal profile speaks of the things I actually want to do in life, where I want to go, and what I like, The key skills are things that I’ve learnt in other employment and life it’s got my most recent employment my most recent Education and the section for references at the bottom available and request.

Website

Website Example Website Example Website Example Website Example Website Example Website Example

We were asked to create a website and show what our website would look like. I’ve enjoyed doing this part as my website is now live and (that is what you are on whilst reading this) my website has gone through several different changes, and as indicated above with the pictures, I’ve had some struggles with this try and get the CSS HTML and JavaScript to work on both desktop and mobile devices. The thing that I’ve really wanted to look at this for is because this is going to be one of the main things that people see to say that they want you to work for them or freelance for them. You can really showcase what you can do and what your interests are also we got asked to make a simple we play or a WordPress site with experience in HTML CSS and JavaScript. I chose to do a website as I a website gives you more control or nothing that you can put onto it rather than having to pay extra money to WordPress or weekly to get the upgrades.

Presentations and Pitches

Video Section

Follow these essential tips to improve your presentation and pitching skills:

  • Prepare everything: Your tech, the way that you save your presentations with a backup just in case. Know your content, rehearse, and ensure that you are fully aware of the product, service, or thing you are presenting.

  • Know your audience: What not to say is as important as knowing what to say. Ensure that you are not going to be embarrassed, make a fool of yourself, or likely to offend.

  • Give them a hook: Get your audience interested and wanting to know more. A hook will ensure that you capture their attention, make them want to engage, and ensure that the people are listening to you and what you have to say.

  • Don’t read from the slides: The chances are that your audience has the ability to read. Please let them do this, and you should just give the key points or highlights of your presentation.

  • Make eye contact: Scan the room and look at people, hold their gaze, and move on. It is an easy way to maintain the audience's attention on you.

  • Have confidence: You are the expert on your presentation. Own it.

  • Start strong, finish strong: These are the things that people remember.

  • Be natural: Try to be yourself. Use the social skills you already have when presenting; it doesn't matter that there are loads of people there in the room. You are a good person, and people want to listen to you.

  • Leave time for questions: Answer these as well as you can and with honesty. If you don’t know the answer, tell your audience and be honest about everything. It really is the best policy.

  • Body language is important: Heads up, be strong, and engaging.

Interview Skills

Improve your interview performance with the following tips:

Portfolio Presentation

When presenting your portfolio, choose the right format that best showcases your skills:

  • Website or Blog
  • Social Media page
  • Video Showreel on YouTube or Vimeo
  • PDF document
  • Physical portfolio
  • All (or most) of the above

Note: Please do not use the big A2 portfolio cases, as these scream 'I'm a student'. Also, avoid showing development work or initial sketches—time is money.

Key tips for your portfolio presentation:

  • Start strong and finish strong – the final piece should be your best work.
  • Use about five pieces of work.
  • Be prepared to talk about your work and tell a compelling story. Explain the concept behind the work, where the ideas came from, and the challenges you solved.

Confidence and Effective Preparation

Preparation is key to succeeding in interviews. Follow these tips to present yourself confidently:

  • Practice your presentation. Record yourself. People will know if you are unprepared.
  • Look smart and feel smart.
  • Have everything prepared and have a plan B, C, D, and E if necessary.
  • Know your stuff or know your limitations.
  • Faking is fine to a degree, but knowledge is irreplaceable.
  • Honesty is always the best policy.
  • People hire people – be the one who will fit in with the team based on your extensive research and knowledge of the company.
  • Talk to people and practice. Don’t be a drain – be a radiator.
